Stage 4 Renal Cell Carcinoma

In March of 2000 I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Renal Cell Carcinoma metastasized to the lungs, where there were nodules "too numerous to count". My wife and I were not comfortable with chemotherapy and radiation, so we prayed for clear direction from God. Five days later we received a book about cancer recoveries on a mostly raw vegetarian diet. That book was Alive and Well by Dr. Philip E. Binzel. We later found a copy of God’s Way to Ultimate Health by Dr. George H. Malkmus. The testimonies were thrilling. The serious consequences of eating meat and dairy foods were convincing.
We immediately bought a juicer and began eating mostly raw vegetables, some of which we had never tried before. The coffee maker went into the trashcan. So did the sugar and shortening. Each day I drank two pints of carrot and carrot-vegetable juices, and I ate two large salads.
I was weak at first, but started walking in the sunshine almost daily. The first day I could only walk about 50 yards and back! But in a few weeks, I could walk about a mile. I tried to breathe deeply and walk fast.
My recovery timetable was as follows:
* After 2 weeks: Nightly fevers and coughing mostly gone. Skin color excellent, no longer gray. Rested about 16 hours daily during this time. “Tumor growing pains” diminished from about 8 per day to 1 per day. This was a nerve spasm as a result of the tumor growing and pressing against it.
* At this point, I had the primary tumor and one kidney removed. For about 5 days after the surgery I did a kidney/bladder cleansing program and consumed an antibiotic drink containing juice, garlic, ginger and olive oil. (Actually, it tastes good!)
* After 4 weeks: All coughing and fevers gone. Was able to rapidly walk about 2 miles. I still rested as much as needed.
* After 6 weeks: I said, “I feel better than I have felt in my entire life.” My wife and I went on a small vacation. One day we rode bicycles in the town for most of the day.
* After 7 weeks: I went back to work full time.
There were only two days in my recovery period which I felt worse. About five days after starting the diet, I thought I was feeling worse because I no longer ate meat. To my wife, I announced, “I WANT MEAT.” After having eggs for supper and steak for breakfast, the tumor “growing pains” increased from one to about eighteen the day after. This convinced me that I was on the right track with the diet.
We are so blessed that God answered our prayers for wisdom. We enjoy talking with others and helping them with their questions, concerns and challenges involved in an all-raw diet.
If I can be of help, please feel free to contact me.
