Wellness Plan for Men

Introduction
In the United States, there are 26 million men between the ages of 45 and 55. Due to a rapidly aging baby boomer population, this number will grow to almost 57 million by the year 2020. Over the next few years, doctors and medical researchers—who have often ignored healthy aging issues in men—will have to come to terms with this phenomena.
This extensive group is entering a passage of life which has only recently been identified as “male menopause”. Other names for this relatively new concept include the “gray zone”, “viropause”, and “andropause”. Though commonly recognized in Europe, a man's passage through this significant phase of life has received little attention in America.
The emotional, sexual, and physical upheavals encountered are often related to hormonal fluctuations. One can look to the menopause passage of women and draw important analogies to what men experience. The main difference is that women enter the “pause” within a relatively short period of time—while it takes approximately 10 to 15 years for men.
Other Health Problems
The last few decades have seen an alarming increase in chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease; they are the two leading causes of death among American males. While the United States has one of the most modern medical systems, American men rank fifteenth among nations in longevity.
It has been estimated that 1 in 2 people will contract cancer by the year 2005—with prostate cancer increasing at three times the rate of breast cancer! Heart disease accounts for over half a million deaths each year. The male population has also witnessed a meteoric rise in other debilitating diseases such as depression, arthritis, neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s, and allergic reactions to the environment.
Unfortunately, due to various issues including environmental pollutants and ‘modern’ dietary trends, American men are becoming older sooner.
“Patient-Centered” Solutions
A great deal of attention has been directed to women’s menopausal transition, and now is the time for men to embrace many of these health concepts in order to achieve optimal health and wellness.
At Energy Health Centre, we believe that in order to minimize the impact of chronic diseases and to successfully navigate a passage through the male menopause, one must implement a new paradigm called “The Patient Centered Approach to Health”. The current medical system does not ascribe to this new paradigm, but instead, assigns insurance codes to specific complaints—which then provide disease centered treatment plans without consideration of the patient’s biologic individuality.
This is highly inadequate—especially in longevity medicine where one must account for triggers, antecedents, and mediators of a disease. Our unique patient-centered approach relies on “Functional Integrated Medicine”—an intelligent mix of conventional Western science, Eastern techniques, modern homeopathy, and bioenergetic medicine. Is it no longer acceptable to simply treat one’s symptoms with a single drug; instead, one must view symptoms as the body’s defense mechanism against disease. The actual disease must be identified and treated—while the reduction of risk factors and implementation of prevention programs for future diseases must be incorporated into an individualized holistic approach.
The Energy Health Centre Wellness Plan is designed to restore and maintain your body’s optimal energy resources.
